That the Seventh Kalvary wears Rorschach masks is plot.
So dont comment that Jeremy Irons playing Adrian Veidt is an Easter egg thats just casting.

Reeves was a real legendary lawman andsome even claimthe inspiration for the Lone Ranger.
It would make sense that he is also the inspiration for Hooded Justice.

Under the Hood
Eagle-eyed (or should that be owl-eyed?)
fans noticed that a copy of a book calledUnder the Hoodis sitting on the desk in the sheriffs office.
This is a major callback to the source material.
In the comic book,Under the Hoodwas the name of the autobiography of Hollis T. Mason, a.k.a.
Chapters ofWatchmenended with excerpts fromUnder the Hood, which the good sheriff is reading casually.
There are a lot of connections between the Sheriff and Nite Owl, but those are for another piece.
Take this poster for the National Bank seen in their headquarters.
A bloody version of that clock was onthe cover of the final issue.
Of course, Nite Owl is a major character, andTales of the Black Freighterfeatures, well, pirates.
Clocks, clocks, everywhere.
Lest you think this is a stretch, director Nichole Kassell basically confirmed it toSyfy.
Who the Owl
There are owls everywhere in this show!
Of course, Lauries owl has the best possible name for an owl: Who.
The page that Agent Petey sneaks into the slideshow is word for word from the comic book itself.

It also helped define the Comedian as a villain after he fired at protesters in that strike.

Laurie seems to notice in the final shot of the scene, too.

Its a book byMax Shea, the fictional author ofTales of the Black Freighter.

Angela comes home and basically falls into the bunk bed below Topher.

In the comic book, Rorschach eats cold beans out of a can.
This is apparently a thing now in this universe, because Wade eats beans straight from the can too.
Yellow smiley faces are everywhere on this show, reflecting both the iconic cover and the Comedians blood-smeared button.
Does It Ever End?
Of Course It does.
Doctor Manhattans final words from the graphic novel are Nothing ever ends.
Wades line from his support-group meeting sure sounds like an auditory Easter egg, contradicting the good doctor.

Apparently, any underground operation needs a whole wall of televisions to get the job done.

Nostalgia
This one isnt so much an Easter egg as a twist on the source material.
You know the drugs that Will gives Angela?
It shares a name and a purpose with a scent developed by Veidt in the source material.
Digging through the HBO site revealsan ad for Nostalgiathat provides more information.
Only one of them is from the source material, Moloch, whose real name was Edgar Jacobi.
Veidt ended up murdering an older, retired Jacobi, framing Rorschach for the crime.
Dollar Bill
Remember the racist poster in the Kavalry headquarters that Angela spotted in episode one?
Maybe in Vietnam, the rest of the title was slightly altered.
Life on Mars?
Call this one an auditory Easter egg to the big blue guy.
Mr. Eddys Bar
The bar at which Angela meets Doctor Manhattan has a dark history inWatchmenlore.
Its the same bar from the source where Eddie Blake, a.k.a.
the Comedian, committed one of his most violent acts.
During the Vietnam War, the Comedian took a lover in the country and she got pregnant.
Eddie then shot and killed her.
He drew it for the show, as confirmed bySyfy.
And now hes alone, lamenting nuclear proliferation and trying to get his remote control to work.
Fogdancing(Again!)
It is also the name of a lock company in the source.
Youll also notice that Veidts password is RAMESES II.
The Egyptian Pharaoh was also known as Ozymandias.
Rameses II
The references to the other Ozymandias arent done.
Veidt quotes the apocalyptic sign.
The show proves that he still has this remarkable ability.
