We arrived at a count of 169 by considering all two-part and hour-long episodes as single entries.
We also omitted theretrospective.
With every episode now available on demand, why waste time watching highlights?
The bingeing is going to be real, and its going to be spectacular.
The Finale (Season 9).Is the final episode ofSeinfeldreally that bad?
They get what they deserve!
Its a long time coming!
Symbolically, its perfect!
But upon rewatching, you realize that, yeah, it is that bad.
Isnt that a little racist?
Elaine says when Jerry says he loves Chinese women.
Jerry disagrees, but jokes about Confucius and conflatingLs forRs now come off as especially dated.
Elaine asks, to which he replies, Is it that obvious?
Kramers first get-rich-quick scheme a make-your-own-pizza restaurant is the highlight of this otherwise-inconsequential early episode.
Proof that, even inSeinfelds universe, theres such a thing as too dark.
If only the rest of the episode delivered on this visual punch.
The Suicide (Season 3).How muchisa Drakes Coffee Cake, anyway?
The Postponement (Season 7).This is mostly a comedown episode following Georges rushed engagement to Susan.
The Checks (Season 8).Elaine singing Witchy Woman to her unamused boyfriend Brett is an inspired moment.
is a delicious moment.
The Susie (Season 8).Who is Susie?
The Apartment (Season 2).GET OUT!
The rest of the episode focuses on Jerry not wanting Elaine to move into his building.
But Jerrys car really stinks, and seeing everyone make a gas face when they enter it is funny.
Georges pre-sexting-era attempt to exchange racy photos with a one-hour-photo employee, however, falls comparatively flat.
Is Craigs ponytail approaching a man-bun?
Jerrys attempt to date an acquaintance of Elaines behind her back, meanwhile, makes for a forgettable thread.
Otherwise, its more or less a comedown narrative after Jerrys parents are dramatically evicted from Del Boca Vista.
This episode also marks the introduction of Jerry as an obsessive neat freak.
(He pulls it off, too.)
(Also: manure, George?
Too bad the side plots Kramers living will, Jerry and the bad tennis instructor arent as inspired.
Will Kramers novocaine from dental surgery ever wear off?
Is Tim Whatley running a sex club in his dentists office?
The last plotline is perhaps season sixs most terrifying because it could conceivably happen.
You dont know what dentists do after they put you under.
The Switch (Season 6).Cosmo!
We finally learn Kramers first nameandmeet his mother.
(In this case, she likes Dockers commercials.)
My mother always said Im not special.
You know what is special?
What redeems the episode is Elaines quest to get her Communist boyfriend to dress snappier.
(Cant you at least look like a successful Communist?)
Jerrys attempt to play Superman to a black-haired girlfriend named Lois (get it?)
is medium-funny at best.
The Boyfriend (Season 3).The shows first hour-long arc drags quite a bit.
The Stand-In (Season 5).Jerry literally kills someone by making him laugh too hard dark stuff.
Clearly, hes come a long way from women rejecting him for not being funny enough.
George being corrected after using the term midget is a rare moment of political correctness for the show.
The Pothole (Season 8).Yet another episode where Elaine has trouble with Chinese-food-delivery guys?
Meanwhile, Kramer repainting highway lanes makes for a spectacular disaster.
(The answer may surprise you or it wont.)
Above all, The Stranded is notable forElaine bringing an obscure film quote from the 1980sinto the cultural lexicon.
(Elaine helps him out, so theres a lesson about her, too.)
Pour one out for Jerry, who vainly tries to get rid of Newman once and for all.
The Junk Mail (Season 9).SEINFELDS VAN!
(Sack Lunch looks like a better movie, anyway.)
As for whether or not Tim Whatley converted to Judaism for the jokes, does it matter?
Elainebeing forced to sit in a small chairduring Manyas commemorative dinner is a great visual gag, too.
Plus: Susan and George are back together!
For now, anyway.
The Wallet (Season 4).Jerrys father screaming, My wallets gone!
You know what is funny?
The Chinese Restaurant (Season 2).Seems low on the list, huh?
The Note (Season 3).Possibly the most flagrant display of homophobia from George, who Cant.
after he receives a massage from a man.
The Understudy (Season 6).What is it withSeinfeldusing Asian culture as a setup for punch lines?
They do it a lot!
(What a hipster doofus.)
The Dealership (Season 9).Of all of the shows KHAN!!
exclamations from George, the one at the climax of this episodemight be the best.
George is right, too: Hoochie mama is more fun to yell than Serenity now!
The Frogger (Season 9).What a stupid episode, right?
Tightly scripted, thoroughly reprehensible.
That said, Georges sexual indiscretion during his tenure at Pendant Publishing (Was that wrong?)
is one for the ages.
The Caddy (Season 7).One simple rule: If the bra doesnt fit, you must acquit.
), who goes as far to stage a successful one-man show tearing Jerry to shreds.
Newman, as you’re free to imagine, is a fan.
Nazi leader George Costanza what will his parents think?
The Foundation (Season 8).Whats worse than Georges lack of guilt following Susans death?
But you know what?
Its better than you remember, and Georges black-spray-painted Timberlands remain something to behold, in forwardorbackward motion.
The Money (Season 8).Klompus!
Jerrys elderly nemesis engages in a series of transactions with him that eventually leave Jerry seemingly homeless.
And yet, he almost pulls it off.
(Also:George in a toupee.GEORGE IN A TOUPEE.)
Which do you prefer: the bro or the mansierre?
And they were right to like it its a funny episode.
Also, the woman playing Cynthia?
A pre-Janice-from-FriendsMaggie Wheeler, using herrealvoice.
The Van Buren Boys (Season 8).Is Jerrys new girlfriend a loser?
Is he a bad person for wondering if shes a loser?
(Answers: Probably not; definitely.)
The Kiss Hello (Season 6).Who doesnt like a kiss hello?
Jerry, thats who.
This is one of the few episodes where Jerrys antisocial neuroses are weirdly, even universally, relatable.
Its also the first time George utters the catchphrasedelicate genius, reflecting the breadth of his intellectual insecurity.
The answer to the second question is complicated.
The answer to the first is obvious.
The Bookstore (Season 9).Sir, its been flagged.
Truly a Swarm!-worthy offense.
(Blame the change of New York City area codes, or dont.)
Possibly the best Kruger-era episode for George (er, T-Bone), too.
The Seven (Season 7).George always wanted to name a child Seven.
Erykah Badu and Andre 3000 named their child Seven.
They probably both loveSeinfeld.
You know who doesnt get to name his child Seven?
(He cant even settle for Soda, though, boy, would he love to.)
The Butter Shave (Season 9).Another patently ridiculous episode, a la The Frogger.
The montage of George pretending to be handicapped at Play Now!
set to Sheena Eastons Morning Train is its own highlight reel.
Plus: an early glimpse of Kramer-as-kavorka, as he romances a young librarian and nearly destroys her career.
Consider thisSeinfelds take onFlowers for Algernon, if Algernon were a deranged, sex-crazed half-wit.
Eat it up, Georgie boy!
It wont last for long.
(Another isGeorge showing off the glassesthat gave the episode its name.)
Well never know who was going to win Kramer and Newmans game ofRisk shouldnt have insulted Ukraine!
Moral of the story: Never hire a drunk rabbi to perform a bris.
The Doodle (Season 6).Watching Jerrys parents (and Uncle Leo!)
behave badly in a hotel room paid for by Elaines potential employer is a rare treat.
So, too, is Elaines face when shes forced to spit out her gum in a life-drawing class.
The Non-Fat Yogurt (Season 5).Children cursing: always funny!
Well-intended, but ultimately, another ill-advised attempt to be a good person.
Also: the first appearance of Jackie Chiles!
But The Burning isnt just successful because of its provocative nature.
The Raincoats (Season 5).The best ofSeinfelds two-part episodes?
The Engagement (Season 7).What kind of lives are these?
Were like children were not men!
test scam is one of the funniest grifts hes ever run.
People think Im smart, but Im not smart.
The Bubble Boy (Season 4).Its the Moops.
George switches the Yankee uniforms from polyester to cotton, and it goes horribly yet Jerry has no sympathy.
(The faceless Steinbrenner doesnt count.)
The real-life Jon Voights cameo is pretty much perfect but dont tell that to Kramers arm.
The Fusilli Jerry (Season 6).One word: ASSMAN.
It was a million-to-one shot, doc!
Also, the introduction of Elaines recurring boyfriend Puddy, played with aplomb by Patrick Warburton.
These are elements that keep the shows engine running, and that engine is humming perfectly in this episode.
The Conversion (Season 5).KAVORKA!
Think about the cosmic perfection ofSeinfeldending with George almost relaxing himself to death.
From a volunteer job.
The Rye (Season 7).Actually, maybethisis the worst thing Jerry does during the course ofSeinfeld.
A muscle-relaxant-fueled Elaine hollering STELLA!!!!
at the end earns Louis-Dreyfus a million trillion Emmys.
At least its a Hampton tomato!
you could eat them like an apple!
The season-five finale mines this question in what is possiblySeinfelds most effective attempt at magical realism.
Elaines realization at the end of the episode that shesbecome Georgeis one of the shows funniest moments.
(Also, the Kramer-meetsRegis and Kathie Lee scene is truly inspired.)
The Subway (Season 3).What keeps this from being No.
Thats enough to drop it a spot.
], Estelle Costanza yelling at him in the hospital room, the sponge bath, Im out!
At this point in the shows run,Seinfeldhad already incorporated several clever masturbation jokes into episodes.
Peerless TV, no question.
