The first one is a picture-perfect piece of Baby Boomer Fantasia.
The third is, as mentioned, a dopey Western.
Its not as well-constructed as the original, but its just as enjoyable.
(And bonus points for an amusingly neutered Bruce Willis.)
Zemeckis goes darker and more satirical than he had in years, to often uproarious results.
But you cant help but wonder what would have happened if he continued down this path.
And shout-out to Jessica Rabbit, who didnt invent cosplay … but she was drawn that way.
Its a quality piece.

But what has already redeemedForrest Gumpis the sincerity Zemeckis and Tom Hanks brought to the material.
