The second season ofBig Little Liesended Sunday with the Monterey Five turning themselves in and clearing the air.
We didnt want to reinvent the show.
There wouldnt be a second season ofBig Little Lieswithout Andrea, Bloys said.
We are indebted to her.
I think she did a beautiful job.
She got extraordinary performances out of this cast.
But as anybody who works in television knows, the director typically doesnt have final creative control.
So the idea that creative control was taken from a director is just a false premise.
For anyone who understands television, this is business as usual.
I would be hard-pressed to point to any show that airs a directors cut as its episode.
Its typically the raw material that the producers work from.
Jean-Marc was not given carte blanche, Bloys explained.
He and David and the producers happened to have an aligned vision of what they wanted.
Because they were establishing the look and feel of show, they were working in unison.
Andrea was never promised she would have free rein.
That was clear for everybody.
Jean-Marc is an editor and he has a team of editors that he works with, Bloys said.
The only thing thats unusual is that hes very particular about who he works with and how he works.
Arnold, Vallee, and Kelley have thus far all declined to comment on the Indiewire report.
At the moment, however, he doesnt see an obvious place to continue with the story.
It just doesnt feel like it, but Im certainly open.
