In its fifth and final season,Jane the Virginis telling a story it really hasnt told before.
She loves someone, and they have no interest in being with her.
Chapter Eighty-Nine gives us a Jane weve never seen, a Jane who does not deal well with rejection.
She has very little experience with it, after all.
She does not handle it well.
She drives by his house.
She texts him too much.
It isnota good look for Jane.
Jane may not realize this, butJanedoes.
Idling in a car next to an exs house?
Disrupting an exs professional life?
From one perspective, all of this makes sense.
Janes had no experience with rejection, and she sucks at it.
The default assumption ofJane the Virginhas almost always been that its on Janes side.
There have been a few brief exceptions.
(Or maybe not ever?)
Is it possible to believe in a real-world situation where Janes behavior might not be flattering?
The sense that their farewell wasnt mutual lets a lot of those feelings linger more than they perhaps should.
The thing that works best about this episode is also something that gives me hope for the future.
And Alba and Jorge arein love!
Id say thats impressive for your age!
Our Narrator chimes in.
How didJane the Virginbook Justin Hartley for a cameo!
How did they book him and then he sits in a tanning-booth pod the whole time!
Our Narrators Yeah right.
Hartley doesnt do cameos crack was very good, though.
Put her in a cage on account of her … fowl play?
Oh, Narrator, you do make me smile.
#Rogelio
Itsverysad thatThe Passions of Steve and Brendawas not ordered to series.
Thank goodness Jane managed to apologize to Rogelio with an appropriate #Romorse basket.
My favorite touch were the family photos with images particularly flattering to Rogelio.
