Any hit movie is bound to inspire imitators, but few have inspired as many asJaws.
Others were even less coy about trying to playJawsgame and decided to go with a killer shark.
It worked once, right, so why couldnt it work again?
Since then, the shark movie has had its ups and downs in popularity.
Its also undergone some curious mutations.
We decided to get back in the water and stock of the genre.
So lets get started.
Hopefully youre not reading this on your phone at the beach.
Its a fun watch, however, in large part to see just how far Castellari pushes his plagiarism.
11.Jaws: The Revenge(1987)
One of the strangestJaws-inspired films belongs to theofficial franchise.
Could the shark be linked to her via some kind of psychic connection?
Strangely, ridiculously, yes.

When is a shark movie not really a shark movie?
They squabble and bed each other in beautiful seaside surroundings.
Once in a while, at least.

7.Jaws 2(1978)
To callJaws 2the best of theJawssequels risks damning it with faint praise.
Some of the most memorable images juxtapose the megalodon against normal-sized sharks, making them look puny by comparison.
Why worry about a great white when theres a shark the size of a semi making the rounds?
4.Deep Blue Sea(1999)
Can one scene make a movie great?
If youve seen the scene, you know why the moment works so well.
If you havent, do yourself a favor and give the movie a look.
It never quite reaches a point that high again, but few movies do.
But theyll be safe, wont they?
Theres no need for megalodons or super-intelligent sharks when the garden variety can be this terrifying.
Theres no unneeded flash here, just an awful situation captured in horrifying, up-close detail.
So whats the problem?
To survive, shell have to outwit her hungry opponent.
A riveting tale of survival, its also notable for how little resemblance it bears toJaws.
