I think thats something people dont realize.

Black people have to make a choice.

That choice defines who you are.

But the season-opening holdup of a Mrs. As Glover said: Black people have to make a choice.

Earn winds up on the plane and Lucas is, most likely, headed for jail.

Because that gun came from Earns uncle, what Earn does with it carries extra weight.

Niggas gonna do whatever theyve gotta do to survive, because they aint got no choice.

We aint got no choice, either.

You my family, Earn.

You the only one that knows what Im about.

Director Hiro Murai never uses a two-shot during this speech.

Still, on the surface, it seems like Earn made the right choice.

Fences are mended with Al.

Hes on his way to Europe.

Hes still got his job.

Will staying on the good side of Mr. Moneybags make him a Mr.

There is never a question that Earn loves his daughter.

But he also doesnt want to go back to doing stuff like that.

Hes in that position because he didnt just let shit happen to him.

Theyre carving a path and Earn is taking it with them.

But is that really climbing out of the barrel?
